The Silvana Experiments (2006)

Burrowed into a makeshift room under the stairs lives Silvana, an Eastern European prostitute, and 5 other trafficked and brutalized women. Trapped by the punishing threats of their pimp, the women sit among pastel lace and stale cigarettes, luring visitors into the unforgiving world of sex for sale, with all its harrowing details. The installation, which also featured a 90 minute video, explored the visceral reality of modern day slavery, and its marginalization in everyday society.
